Mrs. Agnes Shaddock Dies at 80;
Active in State Garden Club

Mrs. Agnes M. Shaddock, 80, of 1 Westland Avenue, Brighton, a member of the Church of the Federated Garden Club of New York State, and president of the Home Acres Garden Club died in General Hospital yesterday October 21, 1968 of a heart attack she suffered in home Wednesday.

Mrs. Shaddock was the wife of Dr. Frederick J. Shaddock, a dentist who died in 1936, and the daughter of William J. and Mary Warren Lincoln Montgomery.  Mrs. Montgomery was niece of Abraham Lincoln. The Shaddocks great grandfather James Montgomery who came here in the early 1800's was a canal boat builder.

Mrs. Shaddock, program chairman of the Judges Council for the Seventh District of the Federated Garden Club, was known for her unusual floral arrangements and won a number of prizes in exhibitions.

She was a life member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a member of the Arthur Mace Chapter and the Altar Guild.

Surviving Mrs. Shaddock is a daughter, Mrs. James Rockwell of Rochester, and son Dr. Warren M. Shaddock, a Fairport dentist, and three grandsons.

Mrs. Agnes M. Shaddock, 80, of 1 Westland Ave., Brighton, descendant of the pioneer Montgomery family of Rochester, died in Westside Hospital yesterday (Oct 21, 1968.  She suffered a heart attack at home Wednesday.

Mrs. Shaddock's great-grandfather, James Montgomery, built canal boats here in the early 1800's.  Her mother, Mary Warren Lincoln Montgomery, was a cousin of Abraham Lincoln.

Mrs. Shaddock married Rochester dentist Frederick J. Shaddock in 1915.  After he died in 1936, she took up flower arranging as a hobby.  She eventually became master judge of the National Council of Federated Garden Clubs, one of the highest honors of flower arranging in the U.S.

During World War II, she worked at the Delco Division of General Motors Corp while her son and daughter served in the Navy.

She was a president of the Home Acres Garden Club and belonged to the Arthur Stan_ Chapter and the Altar Guild of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where she was a long time member.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. James Rockwell of Rochester and son Dr. Warren M. Shaddock, a Fairfield dentist, and three grandsons.
